Work is steady as we prepare for our first Trade Show together in August. The Texas Active Lifestyle Show(TALS) is one of the largest retail buying shows for Active Lifestyle brands in the country. The show will feature vendors and buyers for golf and tennis too! Shi Golf will be there amongst many other popular vendors such as Addidas, Callaway Golf, Ralf Lauren, Puma, and too many to count. We’re hoping to expand Shi Golf further across the country and trying to appeal to tennis buyers as well.

As the graphic designer for the brand I find myself intrigued. This really is such a great opportunity to express my creativity and push Shi Golf out into the world. Previewing the new line is another perk from my standpoint. It’s amazing to see a fashion designer’s process. Samples of the new line will be shown at TALS as well as our core collection. So much to do and so much fun to have as we prepare for our big three day trip to Houston!

This past Saturday was the Shank-A-Thon Charity Golf Tournament in Seattle. There was a great turnout as expected and the tournament was a huge hit. The weather could have been a little nicer but that didn’t stop Kelly and her friends from dressing chic in Shi Golf’s Spring and Summer Collection!

Shi Golf was a huge hit gathering lots of attention from the event photographers. Kelly even noticed a woman outside of her group wearing Shi Golf! Where do fashion designers get their inspiration from one may ask? A curious question that I ponder over as I watch Kelly prepare for her new line. Fashion is always changing. Every season brings new styles and trends that circulate among us. Some fashion designers say they get their inspiration from the street style in places such as London , Tokyo and Paris. The media, magazines, and television are also good spots to draw ideas from. A beautiful view, a plant, or a building can inspire anyone for a moment and turn into a new idea. Some fashion designers say they can get their inspiration anywhere, “anything beautiful, ugly and in between can inspire you,” says one designer about her process.

Designers must draw on many areas for inspiration. The past, present and future all figure into this. A good designer knows how to read clues from the current culture, be able to digest them and produce designs that are fresh and unique.  Areas to draw inspiration come from current movies, foreign fashion designers work and new functional interpretations.

Just this past week we were redecorating the house with clothing racks and accessories to prepare for the end of spring shopping party. The event was a huge hit collecting over twenty plus friends from all over the Seattle area and bringing them to the Issaquah Highlands. Under the roof where designer Kelly Chon first began her line about three years prior, the exclusive shopping party materialized. Local photographer, Ellen Go arrived first with her camera in hand to capture all the fun. The event included shopping, wine, and hors d’oeuvrses, free gift with purchase, and of course was a girl’s night to remember. The exclusive party showcased Kelly’s own two lines Composure by Kelly Chon, and Shi golf, as well as items from her online store, Composure Boutique. What a way to make room for the summer collection! Most items were on sale, some even 40-70% off. The house was filled with happy shoppers and smiling faces.
